Golf Australia Express : July 2013 - THE OPEN
AROUND THE TRAPS WELCOME BACK, SIR IF anyone knows his way around Muirfield, it’s Nick Faldo. The Brit won two of his three Opens there in 1987 and 1992, and will again line up at his favourite links. Faldo said he couldn’t pass up a chance for one last hurrah. “I am grateful for the amazing life journey I have taken with this game. I share a special history with Muirfield,” he said. ANCHORS AWAY IF Adam Scott wants to capture an Open Championship (or any other major for that matter), he might want to do it in the next three years. The PGA Tour will match the European Tour’s ban on anchored putters and bring the rule into effect on January 1, 2016. The PGA Tour said matching Europe’s timeframe would “avoid confusion”. OPEN SQUARE EDINBURGH is making the most of the return of the Open to the region. The city will host a special ‘Open in the Square’ event from July 11 to 13, giving visiting golf fans the chance to receive tips from PGA Tour professionals, play some of the great Open courses on video game consoles and have their picture taken with the Claret Jug.
