Golf Australia Express : December 2013
hefty is reserved for the most heinous of breaches. Say, doing a spot of unsolicited grass grooming at St Andrews, or parking in the president’s reserved space at Augusta. The general disbelief surrounding Dyson's pending sanction swells further when placed alongside Tiger Woods’ similar scorecard howler at The Masters, for which he not only escaped a ban but was also allowed to continue playing in the tournament. So Dyson’s real mistake may not have been the error itself, but simply that he isn’t famous enough to earn a reprieve. Dyson is 35 and he’ll be back. But, sadly, his name in future golfing parlance is likely to draw similar reactions to our response as we spied that surname among the leaders on Sunday. Does he deserve the ‘cheat’ tag?
