Golf Australia Express : March 2014
gorgeous gorges. With views that cannot be justified with words, Kauri Cliffs was recently ranked 39th in the world by Golf Digest in the US. It's hardly surprising. PGA Tour star Brandt Snedeker calls Kauri Cliffs "Pebble Beach on steroids", although playing as difficult as it does, it is hardly performance enhancing. It’s so difficult to pick a stand out hole, simply because they all do in their own way. The 510-metre par-5 4th named “Cambo” after New Zealand's 2005 US Open champion Michael Campbell would have to be one of the most picturesque par 5s found anywhere in the world. Then there's the 201-metre par 3 7th. Aptly named “Cavalli” after the Cavalli islands seen in the distance, this hole would rank as one of the world’s most spectacular par 3s, rivaled closely by the 8th hole with its tee box set on the cliff’s edge above the Pacific Ocean. The 333-metre par4 10th presents with a blind tee down into a beautiful native tree-lined fairway, surrounded by a crowd of 22 luxury cottages and the owners suite. THE 510-METRE 4TH NAMED “CAMBO” WOULD BE ONE OF THE MOST PICTURESQUE PAR 5s IN THE WORLD.
