O NE OF THE PERKS of my job is playing some of the world’s finest courses and staying at some of the most desirable lodges and resorts on earth. When I knew I was going to be playing at The Kinloch Club and staying at Treetops Luxury Lodge and Estate — one of New Zealand’s most exclusive hunting and fishing lodges — young Mirror couldn’t wipe the smile off his face. Treetops is situated a few kilometres south of Rotorua, the Maori cultural centre of New Zealand and a stunning drive though rolling farmland, winding pine forests and native ferns was a precursor for what was to come. As soon as the three-metre high doors at Kinloch were opened it was like I had stepped into another world — I could tell immediately this was not your average resort. An entrance hall lined with old fly fishing rods and hunting The Dream A REAL STAND OUT AT KINLOCH IS THE LENGTH OF THE PAR 3S. THE 224-METRE 15TH MUST BE ONE OF THE LONGEST PAR-3s IN THE WORLD. AND IT’S TOUGH.
