Golf Australia Express : OTG Express 142
Throw in a tamer but eminently enjoyable round at Rosebud Club (with stunning views over Port Phillip Bay) and you’ve rounded out a pretty spectacular week of golf. Did we mention there's a welcome and presentation dinner, as well as daily lunches included? It all sounds like a lot of fun. And it is. But the superb golf experience itself is not the only thing on offer at this 72-hole Stableford graded event, with daily prizes awarded for both men and women in a range of grades, and overall prizes for the tournament winners. While we’ve seen many similar events come and go over the years, according to Mornington Peninsula Golf Tourism president, Wayne Lucas, it is the focus placed on the social side of golf during the week that has ensured the longevity and success of the Classic. “The Classic is providing the opportunity for visitors to enter a competition at Australia’s No.1 golf destination, create some special memories and meet new golfing mates, rather than just visit to play social golf.” It’s a hard point to disagree with. And the Mornington Peninsula Golf Classic has certainly proven its point.
