Golf Australia Express : GA Express 315
COURSE THE RACV Royal Pines Resort RACV Royal Pines Resort opened its gates in 1990 and was designed by Japanese architect Tomojiro Maruyama. Royal Pines, located near Surfers Paradise, began life as a 27-hole resort before a fourth nine was added in 1996. But that only lasted until 2002 when it was closed. Graham Marsh and his firm was eventually chosen to complete an extensive redesign of the course – which he stated would “bring more of the field into contention” during tournaments and remain playable for the average golfer for the remainder of the year. The redesign was completed in 2010 and the resort has hosted the Australian PGA Championship since 2013; the year Adam Scott defeated Rickie Fowler to lift the Joe Kirkwood Cup.
